An Auckland Family Beach Getaway at Arkles Bay
Sometimes the best family holiday is the easiest one — a short drive from Auckland, a relaxed base by the water, and the freedom to do very little. Beachfront Beauty at Arkles Bay is a self-contained ground-floor space that’s well suited to a low-key family beach break.
An easy beach break from the city
You don’t have to go far to feel like you’ve got away. From Auckland, Arkles Bay is a straightforward trip north onto the Whangaparaoa Peninsula — close enough that you’re not exhausted when you arrive, far enough that the city properly drops away. Cross the quiet road from the stay and you’re on the sand.
Two or three nights is the amount that lets a family actually settle. A single night is possible when the calendar allows, but it tends to feel like a lot of packing for not much being there. A few nights means a slow first evening, a full day on or near the beach, and an unhurried morning before you head home.
Keep an eye on the kids. The beach is across a quiet road and conditions on the water change with the tide and weather. Please supervise children around the road and the water — we won’t promise the beach is always calm or that swimming is universally safe.
Sleeping and eating, honestly
There’s one bedroom with a superking bed, plus sofa beds in the living area for the rest of the family. Because the right arrangement depends on the number and ages of your children, please ask Vicki to confirm it works before you book — don’t assume two separate rooms.
Meals are simple here. The kitchenette is compact rather than a full kitchen with a conventional indoor stove — fine for breakfasts, snacks and easy dinners. If cooking proper meals matters to your family, ask about the current equipment first. Outside, covered seating with a BBQ makes an easy evening of it.
Check before you book: the sleeping setup, any equipment you’d like to use, parking and access all vary with who’s staying. Please ask rather than assume.
