Pet-Friendly Guide: Whangaparaoa with Your Dog

Planning to explore Whangaparaoa with a dog? Check accommodation policies and the rules for each beach or park before travelling. Access restrictions differ by place and can change.

Accommodation note: This guide does not mean Beachfront Beauty accepts pets. Contact Vicki before making accommodation plans involving a dog.

Check Beach Rules Before Visiting

Use Auckland Council’s current park and beach information and read the signs at the location. Check the rules for the exact beach, time and season you intend to visit; do not assume every beach has the same access arrangements.

Keep your dog under control, carry waste bags and water, and give other beach users space. Choose activities that suit your dog and the conditions.

Shakespear Regional Park Needs Particular Care

The Shakespear Open Sanctuary and associated beach and foreshore areas have dog restrictions to protect wildlife. Do not assume dogs are allowed on the park’s walking tracks. Check the official Shakespear Regional Park information for the permitted areas and current rules before visiting.

Ask Cafes and Restaurants Directly

Outdoor seating does not automatically mean a venue accepts dogs. Ask the venue about its current policy before arriving, including any restrictions around seating or busy periods.

Choose Accommodation Separately

Confirm pet acceptance with your accommodation provider before booking. Beachfront Beauty is self-contained ground-floor accommodation at Arkles Bay, with hosts upstairs. You can contact Vicki about the accommodation and current arrangements.
