Beachfront Beauty holiday accommodation at Arkles Bay

Plan your stay

Start or Finish Your New Zealand Trip at Arkles Bay

Long flights and long drives bookend most New Zealand trips, and the way you handle those first and last days sets the tone for all of it. Beachfront Beauty is a calm, self-contained base at Arkles Bay on the Whangaparaoa Peninsula — a place to rest after you land, or to wind down before you fly home.

Rest after a long flight

Arriving in New Zealand is exciting and exhausting in equal measure. Rather than pushing straight on to a long drive, a night or two by the bay lets you decompress — sleep when you need to, eat when you’re ready, and let the sea air do some of the work of adjusting. Cross the quiet road to the beach, sit on the covered seating with a coffee, and ease into the country at your own pace.

Two or three nights is the difference between arriving and actually being somewhere. It turns a stopover into the first part of the holiday — not just a bed to sleep in between flights and motorways.

Where we sit

Whangaparaoa is north of Auckland. The airport is south of the city, so this is not airport-side accommodation — there’s a drive either way. It suits a coastal detour if you’re heading north, not a stop right on the motorway.

Plan the driving

Please check traffic, your rental-car return and your flight times separately. Auckland traffic varies a lot, so allow generous time for airport runs. Agree any late arrival with Vicki rather than assuming 24/7 check-in.

A calm last few days by the bay

The end of a trip deserves as much care as the start. Rather than a rushed last night near an airport, spend your final days at Arkles Bay — a slow morning, a walk on the sand, a relaxed dinner nearby — then make your way to the airport when you’re ready. It’s a gentler way to leave a place you’ve enjoyed.

The space is self-contained for guests, with a compact kitchenette, a bathroom and a separate toilet, covered outdoor seating with a BBQ, linen and WiFi. Hosts Vicki and Wayne live upstairs. One superking bedroom plus sofa beds in the living area give flexibility for a couple or a small family — please confirm the setup with Vicki for your party.

If you’re continuing north rather than flying, Arkles Bay is a worthwhile detour off the route — a coastal pause before the next leg, not a stop on the motorway itself.
